ID-Assist™ is available in multiple formats including -
⚡ Microsoft Word Add-In : can be used within a desktop or online MS Word using MS Office 365 account.
⚡ Google Doc Extension : can be accessed with a personal Google account or Google Workspace account.
⚡ Custom GPT : can be accessed within ChatGPT using OpenAI ChatGPT Plus account.

Installation Steps
Click this link to install ID-Assist add-in.
Or,
- On your computer, open a MS Word document in desktop or browser
- Click Menu - Add-In > More Add-ins
- Search for ID-Assist
- Point to ID-Assist to see a short description. To see a full description, click the add-in.
- Click Add
- To install the add-on, click Install > Continue.
- Sign-in using MS Office 365 login details, if prompted
- A message will appear requesting access to data that the add-in needs to work. Read the message, then click Allow.
- After the add-in installs, click Done.
Launch Steps
- Refresh the MS Word document
- Click the Menu (on top bar) - Add-In > ID-Assist
- ID-Assist Add-in will open in the right pane of the MS word document

- Search for ID-Assist
- Point to ID-Assist to see a short description. To see a full description, click the add-on.

- After the add-on installs, click Done.
Launch Steps
- Refresh the Google document
- Sign out of other default Google account. View Steps.
- Sign in using the google account you used to install the add-on
- Click the Menu (on top bar) - Extensions > ID-Assist > Launch ID-Assist
- ID-Assist Add-on will open in the right pane of the Google document
For Admin Install -
Follow the steps from this guide -
- Copy/paste or enter your source content in word/google doc.
- Select the portion of the text using a cursor in the doc. This will be the input text for ID-Assist prompts.
- Please note, currently Input selection supports only a maximum of 4000 words for free version and 100K words for plus version. So kindly restrict input text selection within this limit. We may be able to increase this limit in the future. If you have large input text, we recommend breaking it into logical chunks during each iteration.
- Once you select the source content, you can select any of the prompts in the right panel drop-down.
- The prompt text will appear under the Prompt Text heading. You can modify this prompt text or keep it as is.
- The prompt text is an instruction that you wish to execute on the selected text and is written in plain english. Do mention ‘given content’ or ‘following content’ in the prompt to refer to the selected text in the document.
- Click the ‘Generate Content’ button and the tool will generate corresponding output, for the selected input text and prompt, under the Recommended Content heading in a few seconds.
- Kindly review the output before inserting it back into the google doc.
- Click the 'Insert Content' button to insert the generated content in the document, Kindly ensure you position the cursor on a new blank line in the document before inserting the recommended content so that it does not wipe out any selected text.
- Feel free to try the tool with different types of input text and prompt selections.
- Please note that the output may not be accurate in certain cases, and we strongly recommend reviewing and modifying it before using it as per your need.
- You will find a prompt called ‘Custom’. When you select this, you can enter your own custom prompt.

Here are few reasons why ID-Assist may not be working -
- No Internet connection: Check your internet connection. ID-Assist requires an active internet connection to function successfully.
- User not logged in: Make sure you have logged in using either MS Office 365 email (for MS Word Add-In) or Google email (for Google Doc Extension) to view the installed ID-Assist add-in.
- Multiple Google Log-in Issue: Check if you have logged in using correct Google account log-in. At times you may have multiple Google accounts and logged in using default login in the browser. You must be only logged in using the same Google log-in that you have used to install ID-Assist Add-on. Sign out of all accounts and log-in using correct account. View Steps. Please note, this is a known Google bug related to Add-Ons and Extensions.
- 3rd-Party APIs not working: ID-Assist uses 3rd-party APIs from OpenAI. In rare situations, their servers may be down or overloaded and you may experience delay or errors in output.
- MS-Word .DOCX format: The .docx file need to open in Google Docs editor. In the doc editor click on File > Save As and save the file as google docs. When you open saved google doc file, you can see the ID-Assist extension in Menu.
- Restricted File Sharing access: The Google Doc file is shared with you with 'Viewer' access and not 'Editor' access.
- Content not selected: You will need to select editable text content within Google Docs before you execute Generate Content action.
- Prompt not selected: You will need to select a Prompt action that you need to execute on selected content within Google doc before you execute Generate Content action.
- Daily Trial Word / Image Limit exceeded: You may have exceeded the daily word (5000 words) or image (5) limit during free trial usage of ID-Assist
- 24-Hour Delay for Admin Installs: Changes can take up to 24 hours for ID-Assist to be enabled in case of Admin install, but typically happen more quickly.
- Minor Bugs in a particular version: To get the latest version of ID-Assist, simply refresh the Google document in your browser window. We release new updates frequently to add new features and fix minor bugs. By refreshing your browser, you can ensure that you have the most up-to-date and bug-free version of the tool.
You need to refresh or reopen the Google Document or MS Words Document that you are using with the ID-Assist add-on and relaunch the tool from the Menu to get the latest updated version of ID-Assist -
Menu > Extensions > ID-Assist > Launch ID-Assist (for Google Doc extension)
Menu > Add-In > ID-Assist (for MS Word add-in)
Click the prompt called ‘Custom’ in the 'Select Prompt' drop-down. When you select this, you can enter a custom prompt of your own.

Here are few examples of custom prompt, feel free to creatively experiment as you wish -
- Identify the primary Bloom’s level for the given content.
- Optimize the given objectives and make them specific, action-orientated & measurable by using the following format: "You will demonstrate that you can X [verb, e.g. recall understand, evaluate, analyse, create] Y [concept or skill, e.g. gravity ] by Z [description of what the learner will do to demo success, e.g. teaching the concept of gravity back to me]
- Review and optimize the given learning objectives such that a maximum of 20% contain the lower order verbs like "remember " & "understand" and at least 80% contain the higher order verbs like "evaluate" "apply" "analyse" & "create".
- The given source content is for an eLearning course on this topic. Identify any gaps or inconsistencies in the given content and suggest ways to address them.
- Create a few Bloom's taxonomy's application level multiple-choice questions from the given content.
- Answer the question based on the given content - Question: <Insert Question>
- List all the <items> from the given content. e.g. List all the advantages of exercising from the given content.
- List the pros and cons for <item> from the given content. e.g. List all the pros and cons for work from home policy from the given content.
- Write a short paragraph summarizing the key points from the given content.
- Create a list of questions that could be used as a pre-assessment for the given content.
- Generate a list of interactive activities that could be used to engage learners with the given content.
- Write a paragraph outlining the objectives and goals of a potential elearning course based on the given content.
- Generate a list of potential resources and materials that could be used to supplement the given content in an elearning course.
- Generate a table of contents for an elearning course based on the given content.
- Write a brief introduction to an elearning course based on the given content.
- Create a list of potential assessments that could be used to evaluate learners' understanding of the given content.
- Write a paragraph explaining how the given content could be used to create a learning path or progression for an elearning course.
- Generate a list of potential topics that could be covered in additional modules or units within an elearning course based on the given content.
- Write a paragraph describing a potential interactive activity that could be used to engage learners with the given content.
- Generate a list of potential interactive activities that could be used to reinforce key concepts from the given content.
- Write a short script for a potential scenario-based interactive activity that could be used with the given content.
- Generate a list of potential discussion or reflection questions that could be used in conjunction with the given content to facilitate learning.
- Write a brief script for a potential animation that could be used to illustrate a concept from the given content in an engaging way.
- Generate a list of potential animation ideas that could be used to bring the given content to life and make it more engaging for learners.
- Generate a list of potential multiple-choice or true/false questions that could be used to assess learners' understanding of the given content.
- Generate a list of potential open-ended or essay questions that could be used to assess learners' higher-order thinking skills and ability to synthesize the given content.
- Classify the content and create a table with relevant rows and columns
Click the prompt called ‘Image Generation’ in the 'Select Prompt' drop-down. This can be used to generate custom images based on custom descriptive prompt text that you provide. You can insert the generated image in the google doc. When you click the inserted image in the doc, it shows you a link where you can access the image and download it. Here are examples of custom image prompts.
(Note, you can use different styles of images e.g. 3D render, oil painting, digital art, sketch, cartoon, etc. Also, the image generation work best with objects and abstract concepts and not people, text..)

Yes, you can generate output in a different language using ID-Assist. Here are two ways to do it:
- Write the prompt in the target language.
- Explicitly mention the target language as part of the prompt. For example, you can use a prompt like "Please generate output in 'Spanish' language."
The given content that you input to the tool may or may not be in target language.
ID-Assist may not always generate precise results because AI and NLP technology is still in its early stages of development. It is a very intricate and ever-evolving field, and researchers and developers need to gain more knowledge before they can fully utilize the power of these technologies. In order to maximize the potential of AI and NLP, it must be used in conjunction with human instruction and consideration must be given to its limitations and drawbacks.
Yes, you need to have a Google workspace account to use ID-Assist Google Doc Add-on and MS Office 365 account to use ID-Assist MS Word Add-in.
